The Ghana Gold Board will not rest until every Gold Smuggler is Placed behind bars – Sammy Gyamfi

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, has declared a strong commitment to ending gold smuggling in the country.

Speaking during a press event in Accra, Mr. Gyamfi stated clearly that the Board will not rest until every gold smuggler is behind bars.

He stressed that illegal gold trade is costing the country millions in lost revenue and weakening efforts to build a fair and transparent gold industry. According to him, gold smuggling harms the economy, affects local miners, and damages Ghana’s international image.

“The Gold Board will not rest until every gold smuggler is placed behind bars,” he said.

Mr. Gyamfi also encouraged local communities and the general public to support the fight by reporting any suspicious gold trading activities. He assured Ghanaians that new tracking systems and border controls will soon be introduced to monitor the movement of gold within and outside the country.

This announcement comes amid rising concerns over the increase in illegal mining and unlicensed export of gold, which Ghana relies on as one of its biggest export resources.
