Before he was a pop star, he was the student who booked the acts. Oluwatosin Ajibade arrived in Kumasi in 2008 to study at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and he began organising entertainment for campus parties. Within a few years, Ghanaian students were dancing to his own songs.
Port Harcourt to Kumasi
Ajibade was born on 19 July 1991 in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He moved to Ghana to study at KNUST, a choice made by many Nigerian students who wanted a university system that ran on time. Kumasi gave him friends, a network and an ear for Ghanaian music.
Into music
His route into performing began with a guest verse on a song called “My Life”, which became popular on campus. His debut mixtape, About to Blow, came out in 2013. He developed a relaxed, mid-tempo style blending Nigerian and Ghanaian influences, and fans called it banku music, after the Ghanaian staple.
Skin Tight
The single that took him further was “Skin Tight”, featuring the Ghanaian singer Efya. It was smooth, slow and built around the chemistry between the two voices. It became a hit in both countries and introduced him to audiences beyond the West African university circuit.

Between two countries
Mr Eazi‘s career has always moved between Ghana and Nigeria. He has worked with Ghanaian producers and artists and has often spoken about Kumasi and Accra as homes. Ghanaian fans treat him as partly their own, and he has rarely resisted the claim.
Business mind
He has never seen himself only as a performer. Mr Eazi has been involved in artist development and music distribution, investing in young African talent and backing creators with funding and support. His business approach is a large part of his reputation in the industry.
Marriage to Temi Otedola
Mr Eazi’s long relationship with Temi Otedola, the actress and daughter of the businessman Femi Otedola, made them one of Nigeria’s most watched celebrity couples. Wikipedia lists them as married in 2025.
Why Kumasi matters
Many Nigerian artists have performed in Ghana. Mr Eazi is unusual because he was formed there. He discovered his sound as a Nigerian student in the Garden City, booking acts and recording on the side. When people argue about which country has the better music industry, his career is evidence that the answer can be both.
