Tech lovers in Ghana can’t stop talking about the new iPhone 17. The buzz hit more than 5,000 searches in just 11 hours, a 200% jump, right after Apple’s much-hyped “Awe Dropping” event on September 9.

The highlight of the lineup is the iPhone 17 Air, Apple’s slimmest phone yet at only 5.5mm thick with a 6.6-inch display. The Pro models also grabbed attention with outdoor-friendly screens that hit 3,000 nits of brightness, powerful A19 Pro chips for longer battery life, and vapor chamber cooling to keep things running smoothly.

Apple has shaken things up with pricing and storage. The base model now starts at $799 but comes with 256GB of storage and ProMotion 120Hz displays across all versions. The familiar “Plus” model is gone, replaced by the new Air at $999. Users also get Wi-Fi 7, fresh pastel colors, and smarter Apple Intelligence features, including advanced Photographic Styles.

Pre-orders opened on September 12, with shipping set for September 19. But in Ghana, the real debate is about local prices and availability, since most buyers rely on importers.

On social media and tech forums, users are already comparing the iPhone 17 with Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge while sharing excitement over the Air’s ultra-thin design, which brings back memories of the iconic iPhone 6.

Apple didn’t stop at phones. The event also introduced the Apple Watch Series 11 with blood pressure monitoring and the AirPods Pro 3.

For many young, tech-savvy Ghanaians, these launches highlight Apple’s grip on the smartphone market. As more people look at financing options and ecosystem perks, the iPhone 17 hype shows no sign of slowing down.
