KiDi Apologizes to Vodafone for Mentioning MTN
Reigning VGMA Artiste of the Year, KiDi has apologized to Vodafone Ghana, who were the main sponsors for Ghana Music Awards.
Lynx Entertainment signer, KiDi has won the Artiste of the Year at the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
On the 6th and 7th of May, 2022, the event took place at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference.
Where we saw several talented Ghanaian artists, winning awards for their hard work.
The night which was mostly carried by Ghanaian highlife and afrobeat singer-songwriter KiDi was one of the memorable moments of his life.
Kidi won the Artist of the Year, the biggest award for the night. He also won among other categories, the Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year with his global hit song Touch It.
In all, KiDi won 5 Awards that night, the last one which was ‘Artists’ of the Year.
In 2015, KiDi became the 4th winner of the reality show MTN Hitmaker. He beat CJ, Gunshot, Abena, and Yaw to walk home with a GH¢100,000.00 recording deal. He signed to Richie Mensah’s Lynx Entertainment record label after the competition.
During KiDi’s acceptance Speech, he acknowledge MTN Ghana Hitmaker, which was the grass root of his fame. He mentions MTN, appreciating them for the opportunity, forgetting that, the event was sponsored by Vodafone Ghana.
It is clear that there is a great rivalry between the two telecommunication giants, Vodafone and MTN.
This has sparked lots of controversy as to why KiDi mentioned MTN at a Vodafone-sponsored event.

He apologizes to Vodafone, he went ahead saying his story won’t have been told properly without mentioning MTN.
