‘No More Trotro’: Black Stars Keeper Benjamin Asare Gifted Brand New Car After Being Spotted in Trotro

Ghana’s national team goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, has been gifted a brand-new Toyota Elantra by businessman Alhaji Seidu Agongo.

The video, which surfaced in March, showed Asare seated at the front of a trotro, a popular form of public transportation in Ghana, shortly after his debut for the Black Stars.

Many fans were surprised to see the nation’s first-choice goalkeeper traveling in such a modest manner, leading to a mix of reactions on social media.

Moved by Asare’s grounded nature, Alhaji Seidu Agongo, CEO of Class Media Group, decided to reward the goalkeeper’s humility and dedication. The car was presented to Asare at Hearts of Oak’s commercial center, with the goalkeeper expressing his gratitude:

“I thank all the supporters of Hearts of Oak and everyone. It is incredible for a lovely gesture to be extended to someone like me. I thank the whole nation and the president for this opportunity. I also thank my coach Ouattara and everyone who has helped me. I thank Ghanaians as well. God willing, we will be at the World Cup.”

Asare’s journey to this point has been nothing short of inspirational.

At 32, he made his debut for the Black Stars, keeping clean sheets in matches against Chad and Madagascar.

His performances have been pivotal for Hearts of Oak this season, with 15 clean sheets in 24 league matches.

Coach Aboubakar Ouattara praised Asare’s dedication and urged him to continue striving for excellence:

“I’ll tell Asare to utilise the car well. He should bear in mind it was as a result of his abilities on the pitch that earned him this prize. I’ll urge him to perform at the highest level because Ghana is one of the most powerful football nations in the world.”

This story serves as a testament to the rewards of humility and hard work, reminding us that greatness often comes from the most unassuming places.
