The dismembered remains of Shanteria Tia Mosely, a 26-year-old DoorDash driver, were discovered by her family in Smyrna, Georgia, on September 23, 2023. The grim finding occurred after a family member tracked her phone to the Park Valley Apartments off South Cobb Drive, where a distressing search led them to her vehicle and ultimately to her body.
Mosely, also known as KT, had gone missing earlier that day while making deliveries. Her family, worried for her safety, utilized her phone's location to guide their search. They scoured the nearby woods and grassy areas before locating her car, prompting them to call the police. KT’s aunt, Michelle Weaver, recounted that a police officer arrived but left shortly afterward after knocking on a few doors without any substantial leads.
“We called the police, and they came out,” Weaver said. “She said, ‘So where did her phone ping?’ So we took her back to where the phone pinged. She knocked on, like, three guys’ doors, and you know that was it.”
After the officer departed, the family continued their search. While retracing their steps, Weaver noticed a man watching them from a nearby apartment. When they approached him, he claimed not to have seen KT. This man, later identified as 18-year-old Kingston Bradley, became a focal point in the investigation.
As the search continued, Weaver witnessed Bradley carrying what appeared to be a laundry bag. “All we see is the boy. Throwing a bag, like something with a cloth,” she said. “It’s like a bag kind of cloth, like maybe a laundry bag, and it had like a container in it. He kind of threw it and he ran.”
Inside that container, the family discovered KT’s dismembered torso. They recognized her by her tattoo, a chilling confirmation of their worst fears. Weaver expressed her anguish and frustration, insisting that the Smyrna police should acknowledge that her family, not law enforcement, found KT. “Y’all didn’t do nothing. Y’all left us. You guys left us to do it ourselves,” she said.
Following the discovery, police conducted a search of Bradley’s apartment, where they found blood stains, a large bloody saw, and a mop bucket filled with water. The apartment reportedly smelled of bleach, raising further suspicions.
Alani Smith, a resident of the same complex, shared her concerns. “Someone is dead, chopped up, and it’s scary,” she said. “I have two kids that live here. They walk back and forth to the bus. That’s scary.”
As investigations progressed, Kingston Bradley was arrested and charged with concealing the death of another person. The authorities continue to investigate the case, trying to piece together the events that led to Mosely’s tragic fate.
Weaver wants her niece remembered for her joy and spirit. “I just want our story to get out,” she said. “I just want our story to get out, and I just want Smyrna police to have the correct facts where it all began at, what time it began, the time frame.”
