A secretly recorded video showing the moment Ghanaian evangelist Patricia Asiedua, widely known as Nana Agradaa, entered Nsawam Prison has surfaced online, sparking a wave of public reaction just days after she was handed a 15-year jail term for fraud.
The unfiltered footage, quietly captured by a bystander, shows Agradaa being ushered through the gates of the correctional facility. Dressed in a modest outfit, her usual public flair replaced with silence and restraint, the once-outspoken spiritual leader appeared subdued and resigned.
The video, which has since gone viral, marks a rare public glimpse of Agradaa in the immediate aftermath of her sentencing. She was convicted on multiple counts of defrauding members of her church under the guise of a spiritual financial scheme.
Agradaa, formerly a self-proclaimed spiritualist who famously claimed to “double money” through ritual means, had transitioned into Christian evangelism in 2021, rebranding herself as “Evangelist Mama Pat.”
Despite her conversion and promises to leave her controversial past behind, complaints soon piled up from churchgoers who alleged she had taken money from them with the promise of returns that never came.
The court found her guilty on six counts of defrauding by false pretense. She was sentenced to 15 years with hard labor — a ruling many saw as a strong message against religious exploitation in Ghana.
While Agradaa has maintained her innocence throughout the trial, the court ruled that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence, including video recordings, witness testimonies, and bank transactions linking her to the fraud.
Reaction to the leaked footage has been mixed. Some sympathize with her fall from grace, calling it a “tragic transformation” from national figure to inmate. Others see it as long-overdue accountability.
