1,504 Lives Were Claimed Through Road Accidents In First Half Of 2025 – NRSA

Ghana recorded a total of 7,289 road crashes and 1,504 fatalities between January and June 2025, according to provisional data released by the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) in collaboration with the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD).

The report further indicates that 12,354 vehicles were involved in various accidents during the six-month period, resulting in injuries to 8,300 individuals.

Additionally, 1,301 pedestrians were reported to have been knocked down across the country.

Road Accidents

The NRSA highlighted the daily toll of road traffic incidents, revealing that on the average, eight lives are lost daily due to road crashes, 40 road crashes occur nationwide each day, 46 people sustain injuries daily in these accidents, and 69 vehicles and motorcycles are involved in crashes every day.

The NRSA has called for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and increased public education to help curb the rising number of road accidents across the country.
