The Electricity Company of Ghana Ltd. (ECG), Accra West Region, has officially addressed the recent disconnection of electricity supply to the Believers Worship Centre, led by Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah. The disconnection, carried out on August 26, 2025, was due to an outstanding electricity bill amounting to GHC308,741.16.
In a press statement, ECG clarified that the action was part of its routine revenue mobilization exercise and not a targeted move against the church.
The Regional General Manager emphasized that the church’s failure to settle its bills over time necessitated the disconnection, which was consistent with similar actions taken across various customer categories.
ECG stressed that the exercise was non-discriminatory and aimed at ensuring financial accountability. The company responded to public commentary and a sermon by Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah, reaffirming that the disconnection was purely operational and not intended to inconvenience the church.
The ECG has provided contact details for further inquiries and encouraged all customers to honor their financial obligations to avoid service interruptions.
This development has stirred public discourse around the financial responsibilities of religious institutions and the broader implications of utility enforcement in Ghana.
