Nana Agradaa’s Sentence Restores Confidence in our Judicial System – Says MC Portfolio

Popular Ghanaian entertainment personality and master of ceremonies, David Adjei Frimpong, Porpularly known as MC Portfolio, has commended the judiciary over the 15-year prison sentence handed to self-styled evangelist Patricia Asiedua, widely known as Nana Agradaa.

In a one-on-one conversation by Ghanaian Blogger, King Bygone, MC Portfolio described the sentencing as a “turning point” that signals a growing public trust in Ghana’s judicial system.

“Let’s be real,” he said. “When someone is well-connected or has a big following, it’s usually hard for the law to touch them. But this changes everything. It sets a precedent.”

Nana Agradaa, a controversial figure known for her past as a spiritualist and later as a self-declared Christian evangelist, was sentenced after being found guilty of defrauding followers under false pretenses. The case, which attracted nationwide attention, involved claims of multiple victims being tricked through so-called “money doubling” scams.

Many Ghanaians had doubted whether she would face any real consequences due to her influence and following. But the ruling has shifted public perception.

According to MC Portfolio, the sentencing shows that “no one is above the law, no matter their status or popularity.” He added, “This is not just about Agradaa. This is about trust in our justice system, and today, it went up.”

The entertainment figure, who has long commented on public issues with a mix of humor and directness, said the ruling offers hope to victims of fraud who often feel justice will never come. He also urged Ghanaians to continue holding leaders and public figures accountable.

Agradaa’s sentencing comes after years of legal wrangling and several arrests. The final ruling is being seen by legal commentators and civil society groups as a clear message that fraudulent activities, especially those that exploit religion and vulnerability, will not be tolerated.

While some of Agradaa’s supporters have criticized the sentence, many citizens have welcomed it as long overdue.
