Bibiani GoldStars FC have parted ways with head coach Frimpong Manso after a 2-0 defeat to Algerian side JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
Manso, a former Ghana international, was appointed in December 2023 and made history by leading the Miners to their first Ghana Premier League title.
He also guided the team to win the GHALCA Top 4 Cup earlier this year.
GoldStars started the 2025/26 league season on a high with a 2-1 victory over Bechem United. But their debut in continental competition has been less encouraging, with Sunday’s loss at the Accra Sports Stadium leaving them with a difficult task in the return leg in Algeria.
The club described Manso’s departure as a mutual decision. It comes at a crucial point, as GoldStars must now balance defending their league crown with competing in Africa for the first time.
An interim coach will be named in the coming days to prepare the team for the second leg in Algeria and the rest of their domestic campaign.
