Samuel Ocantey, popularly known as Nii Kpakpo Gbemi, the creator of the viral “Kpakpo Series” cartoon skits, has been arrested for allegedly defrauding a man of over GH?448,000 under the pretext of securing visas to the United States.
The arrest follows a police report filed by the victim, who accused Kpakpo of failing to deliver the visas or refund the money.
Kpakpo, known for his Peter Griffin-inspired Ga voice-over skits, has built a reputation for his connections to high-profile Ghanaians, including the Mahama family, footballer André “Dede” Ayew, and actress Jackie Appiah.
However, these connections are now under scrutiny as allegations of fraud and deceit surface.
According to reports from Sel The Bomb, Kpakpo allegedly convinced the victim that he could secure three U.S. visas for a fee of GH?448,000.
After receiving the payment, he failed to deliver the visas and reportedly avoided accountability by claiming he was busy.
In one instance, he allegedly lied about traveling to Nigeria with former President John Mahama, a claim that has since been debunked.
This is not the first time Kpakpo has been accused of using his alleged ties to prominent figures for fraudulent activities.
Investigations reveal he previously used the name of Dzata Cement, a company owned by businessman Ibrahim Mahama, to defraud someone.
Following this incident, the Mahama family has reportedly distanced themselves from him.
Despite this, Kpakpo continued to post old videos and photos with the Mahamas to maintain the illusion of a close relationship.
Kpakpo was arrested on Friday night and initially detained at the Nima Police Station before being transferred to the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) for further questioning.
In addition to the visa fraud allegations, Snapchat blogger SelTheBomb has reported that Kpakpo has been accused of luring young women by falsely claiming affiliations with high-profile individuals in Ghana.
Several victims have come forward with accounts of being misled by his promises and connections.
For now, Kpakpo remains in custody as authorities continue their investigations.
