Davido’s $5,000 to Ananzo Doesn’t Mean Ghanaian Artistes Are Stingy – Quamina MP

Ghanaian musician Quamina MP has dismissed the notion that local artistes are unwilling to show appreciation to those who support their work.

His comments follow claims made by Ananzo Official, a well-known music promoter, who said he has never received any gifts from Ghanaian artistes despite promoting their music for years—while Nigerian superstar Davido once gifted him $5,000.

But Quamina MP, whose real name is Emmanuel Kwamina Amonoo, says it’s unfair to label Ghanaian musicians as stingy just because their generosity isn’t always shared online.

Speaking in an interview with Amansan Krakye, Quamina MP explained, “The fact that Davido gave Ananzo $5,000 doesn’t mean Ghanaian artistes don’t show love. Maybe someone here has given him even more, but they just chose to keep it private.”

He stressed that many artistes prefer to help quietly. “Not everyone wants to post what they give on social media. That doesn’t mean nothing is happening behind the scenes,” he added.

Quamina MP also made it clear that he doesn’t believe no one from Ghana’s music scene has supported Ananzo. “I won’t say no Ghanaian musician has given him anything. That wouldn’t be true. But unless someone comes out publicly, people won’t know.”

“I’m pretty sure Ananzo is getting something small here and there. It just may not be out there for everyone to see,” he said.

His comments highlight an ongoing debate about public generosity versus private giving, especially in a music industry where artists are often judged by what they post rather than what they do.
