“Fella Makafui Claims She Stayed Awake During C-Section—Ghanaians React: ‘Who Sleeps Through Surgery?

Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Fella Makafui has stirred discussions online after revealing that she remained awake throughout her caesarean section during the birth of her daughter, Island Frimpong.

In a candid interview, Fella recounted the surreal experience, noting that due to complications—specifically, her baby turning in the womb—a natural delivery was not possible, necessitating the surgical procedure.

Describing the operation, Fella shared that she could feel movements but no pain, as two doctors worked on either side of her abdomen. At one point, she glanced at a nurse and caught a glimpse of her open stomach, exclaiming, “Jesus!” in shock.

The revelation has elicited mixed reactions on social media. While some users expressed surprise at her claim of being awake during the procedure, others pointed out that it’s standard for patients to be conscious during a C-section. One commenter remarked, “But who sleeps during C-section? Ei,” while another noted, “It was her first time so it’s normal she’s sounding like this. It’s indeed a memorable experience.”

Fella Makafui and rapper Medikal welcomed their daughter in September 2020. The couple’s marriage, which began in March 2020, ended in March 2024.

Despite the end of her marriage, Fella continues to make headlines. Recently, she was recognized as one of the best-dressed female celebrities at the 26th Telecel Ghana Movie Awards, donning a classy, sleeveless, figure-hugging dress that showcased her curves, complemented by a stylish blonde hairstyle and immaculate makeup.
