Ghanaian-British Student Osei Parker Arrested with 19.4kg of Cannabis at Lagos Airport

Lagos, Nigeria – Operatives of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested Osei Parker, a 20-year-old Ghanaian-British national, at Lagos Airport.

The arrest occurred during the inward clearance of passengers aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight arriving from Bangkok, Thailand. Parker was found in possession of 19.4kg of “loud,” a potent strain of cannabis, marking a significant bust by the agency.

During preliminary questioning, Parker identified himself as a computer science student at the University of East London. Authorities have yet to release additional details regarding the arrest or the suspect’s background, leaving many questions unanswered as the investigation unfolds.

The NDLEA has been intensifying its efforts to curb drug trafficking through Nigerian airports, with a particular focus on flights originating from countries known for drug production and trafficking. This arrest serves as a stark reminder of the agency’s ongoing vigilance and commitment to disrupting the flow of illicit substances.

Under Nigerian law, drug-related offenses carry severe penalties, and if convicted, Parker could face significant legal consequences. Given the international dimensions of the case—spanning Thailand, Nigeria, and the United Kingdom—coupled with the suspect’s student status, this incident is likely to draw considerable attention as it progresses through the legal system.

Further updates are expected as the NDLEA continues its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Parker’s arrest.
