“I’ve Gone Zero After Paying Everyone” – Video Director Babs Calls Out Greed in the Creative Industry

Celebrated Ghanaian music video director Awudu Musa, Known as Babs Direction has dropped a truth bomb that has sparked conversations across creative circles.

In a passionate post, Babs addressed a growing concern in the entertainment industry, crew members questioning what the director or client earns after they’ve already been paid their agreed rate. And let’s be honest, he didn’t mince his words.

“Some crew members charge their rate, get paid, and later start wondering how much the director made. That’s like getting your salary and asking how much your boss earns,” he wrote, drawing a strong analogy that hits home for many.

Babs, known for his artistic eye and consistent delivery of quality visuals for top Ghanaian artists, revealed he has sometimes walked away from projects with nothing, after paying everyone involved. “I’ve gone zero on most projects even after paying everyone,” he lamented.

Yet, he emphasized, this is rarely seen or appreciated by those quick to make assumptions.

He challenged creatives to stay focused, appreciate what they agreed upon, and ditch the toxicity that comes from comparing paychecks. “Asking about someone else’s earnings only brings problems and bad energy,” he added.

Babs also dropped a little foresight: “One day, you might lead a team too. And if your team acts the same way, you’ll understand.”

It’s more than just a rant—it’s a wake-up call. Babs is advocating for professionalism, integrity, and unity in the creative process. In his words, “Let’s stay professional and not let greed get in the way of good work.”
