Citinewsroom reports that Ghanaian businessman and entrepreneur, Richard Nii Armah Quaye, owes over Ghc million in outstanding income taxes, which is the genesis of his recent problems with financial regulators.
Quaye’s personal bank accounts have been frozen by the Financial Intelligence Center (FIC). Bank accounts belonging to his companies, Quick Credit and Bills MicroFinance, as well as the bank accounts of his company CEO, Rome-Richlove Seshie, have also been frozen.
According to CitiNewsroom, all these are in relation to income tax problems he’s having with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). In the wake of his extravagant birthday celebration over the weekend, reports emerged that the GRA froze all his accounts.
The GRA clarified that Quaye was undergoing a ‘personal income tax’ assessment instead, in relation to over GHS 30 million of unpaid taxes.
Richard Quaye catapulted himself into the Ghanaian public eye after purchasing a $3m Bugatti Chiron and a private jet valued at tens of millions of dollars just days before his 40th birthday. He proceeded to have a massive birthday party that saw the attendance of all sorts of celebrities and wealthy individuals including Osei Kwame Despite, Davido, Joselyn Dumas, Ramsey Nouah, and many others.
