A trotro driver in Accra warmed hearts after refusing to take fares from passengers as a way of celebrating his birthday.
The unexpected act of kindness has since gone viral, with many praising the driver and his mate for their generosity.
The passengers were visibly surprised when, after the Driver’s mate made an annoucement that, Today is his master’s birthday and henceforth, they won’t take transportation from anyone and it’s free.
The gesture quickly caught attention on social media after a passenger shared a video of the wholesome moment. In the clip, the driver and his mate can be seen smiling as they wave off the fares, with grateful passengers expressing their appreciation.
While birthdays are often a time to receive, this driver chose to give, a move that many online users have called “rare” and “refreshing.” In a city where public transport workers are often in the news for the wrong reasons, this simple but powerful gesture stood out.
