Tensions flared at the Accra High Court earlier today when a woman stormed the premises in distress, loudly accusing self-styled evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, of allegedly duping her out of gold said to have been inherited from her grandmother.
The unidentified woman arrived at the court around 11:00 a.m., shouting and sobbing uncontrollably as she demanded justice. According to eyewitnesses, she claimed that Agradaa had taken possession of the gold under false pretenses, leaving her family with nothing.
“She took everything! That gold was for our whole family. My grandmother left it for us,” the woman screamed, drawing the attention of court staff, journalists, and bystanders. Security personnel quickly intervened to calm the situation and escorted her away from the main entrance.
The incident occurred during ongoing legal proceedings involving Agradaa, who is currently facing multiple charges including defrauding by false pretenses and operating a money-doubling scheme under her now-defunct “sika gari” religious practice.
Agradaa has pleaded not guilty to the charges and remains on trial.
While the woman’s outburst was not formally part of today’s proceedings, it echoes ongoing public frustrations and allegations that continue to surface against Agradaa. Some former followers and complainants allege financial and property losses after engaging with her spiritual services, both before and after she declared herself a born-again Christian.
Court officials declined to comment on the woman’s claims, stating that her accusations have not yet been filed as part of the official case docket. Legal analysts note that if her allegations are formally lodged, they could potentially lead to new investigations or be added to existing cases, depending on the evidence presented.
Nana Agradaa was arrested in 2022 following a public outcry over her controversial activities. Since then, her legal battles have remained in the public eye, attracting both criticism and support from various segments of Ghanaian society.
Today’s dramatic incident adds to the growing scrutiny surrounding her public and religious conduct. It remains to be seen whether the woman’s allegations will be formally pursued by law enforcement.
The court is expected to continue hearings on Agradaa’s existing charges later this week.
