Ghanaian sports journalist Kofi Asare Frank, widely recognized in the media space as Kofi Champion, has once again solidified his place in the industry by winning the Television Sports Host of the Year at the 2025 CityHills Foklex Media Awards.
This marks the second consecutive win for the 25-year-old media sensation, having previously claimed the same award in 2024.
Kofi Champion triumphed over some of Ghana’s finest sports broadcasters, including Kanija of Original FM, Alfred Mensah of Onua TV, Darius Osei Ember of Angel TV, and Roger Emmanuel of XYZ, among others. The competition was fierce, but Kofi’s unmatched delivery, in-depth analysis, and ability to connect with audiences earned him the top spot once again.
In his acceptance speech, he expressed profound gratitude to the organizers of the CityHills Foklex Media Awards for recognizing his work and providing a platform to honor excellence in journalism. He dedicated the award to his fans, mentors, and everyone who has supported his journey.
Kofi began his media career in 2020 at Splash FM (now Radio Fosu) in Assin North District, Central Region, where he first developed his on-air confidence and skill. He later moved to Angel FM/TV, where he gained national attention. In 2022, he joined his current station, 7DSGHTV in Accra, where he continues to thrive as a leading sports host.
Born on 25th December 1999, Kofi hails from Assin Fosu and is known by another name, Addoe Adzadzi. He had his basic education at Assin Kwamoabeng and attended Assin North Senior High School . He is currently pursuing further studies at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).

Kofi Champion rose to prominence in the Ghanaian media landscape when he discovered and mentored 9-year-old Dominic Fobi, who made history in 2021 as the youngest sports journalist in Africa. This remarkable moment captured national attention and showcased Kofi’s eye for talent and passion for youth empowerment.
Following the discovery, Dr. Kweku Oteng, President of the Angel Group of Companies, awarded Dominic an educational scholarship in Accra and offered him the opportunity to work within the company an inspiring testament to Kofi’s impact.
Throughout his career, Kofi has had the privilege of working alongside some of the most respected names in Ghanaian media. His journey to Accra was made possible by renowned sports journalist Saddick Adams, popularly known as Sports Obama, who played a pivotal role in shaping his career.
Kofi also credits Captain Smart for giving him his first television appearance on the Angel FM/TV morning show an experience that helped launch his national visibility.
In addition, Kofi has shared platforms and built strong working relationships with celebrated media personalities such as Kofi Adoma, Okyeame Kofi, Kojo Dickson, Nana Yaa Brefo, and many more. These collaborations have not only enriched his experience but also solidified his standing as a rising force in sports journalism.
