Fake Ghanaian Man Posing as FBI Agent Arrested at Tema Port for Car Seizure and Extortion

Police in Tema have arrested a man accused of posing as Fake Ghanaian Man Posing as FBI Agent to extort money from car owners at the Tema Port.

According to investigators, the suspect approached importers and claimed their vehicles had been stolen in the United States or Canada. He allegedly told victims that the cars could only be released after payment of large sums of money.

Several individuals reported losing both their vehicles and additional funds through the scheme. The suspect, whose name has not yet been released by authorities, was arrested after a joint operation at the port.

Preliminary findings suggest that he had been operating for some time, targeting unsuspecting car importers and exploiting their fear of losing their vehicles.

Police say they are working with port officials and victims to gather further evidence. The suspect is expected to face charges including impersonation, fraud, and extortion.

Authorities have urged the public to be cautious of individuals claiming to represent foreign security agencies and to verify all information with official channels before making payments.

The arrest has been welcomed by victims who say the scam had created fear and mistrust around car clearance procedures at the port.
