Veteran Kumawood Actor Daniel Adeleye Back in Ghana for Family Funeral After Years Abroad

Veteran Kumawood actor Daniel Adeleye has resurfaced in Ghana after spending years abroad, marking his return with a deeply personal mission, to lay his late father to rest.

The actor, who had been residing in the UK, expressed both sorrow and gratitude as he reunited with family and friends for the funeral service.

Daniel Adeleye’s father passed away in February 2025, prompting the actor to return home to honor his memory.

The funeral service is set to take place on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the State Boys Park near the SDA Church at Suame Roundabout in the Ashanti Region. As a devoted Seventh-Day Adventist, his father’s final rites will align with the customs of the church he cherished throughout his life.

Speaking in an interview, Adeleye shared his emotions about being back in Ghana after so many years.

He acknowledged that while his return was under somber circumstances, he was grateful for the opportunity to reconnect with loved ones. He also extended an open invitation to his colleagues in the Ghanaian movie industry, urging them to join him in paying their last respects.

Fans and industry insiders have reacted warmly to his return, reminiscing about his contributions to Kumawood. Adeleye, who gained prominence in the 2000s alongside stars like Nana Ama McBrown, Agya Koo, and Michael Afranie, was known for his compelling performances in films such as Dabi Dabi, Okomfo Anokye, and The Pastor’s Wife. His transition into filmmaking further cemented his legacy, as he played a role in introducing new talent to the industry.

Despite his long absence, Adeleye’s return has reignited nostalgia among movie lovers, with many expressing hope that he might consider stepping back into the spotlight. For now, however, his focus remains on family, tradition, and honoring the memory of his late father.
