Beau Lamarre-Condon returned to the witness box on Thursday for the second day of his trial over the fatal shootings of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies in Sydney earlier this year.
The former police officer is accused of killing the couple in 2024. In court, Lamarre-Condon described his relationship with Baird as non-exclusive, saying they were “doing things that couples were doing,” including sharing dinners and spending time together. “We were not exclusive. I was still seeing people at various points throughout my time with Jesse,” he told the court.
Lamarre-Condon’s testimony adds detail to the personal dynamics behind the case, which has drawn significant media attention due to the violent deaths and the accused’s former role in law enforcement. The trial has unfolded amid Sydney’s ongoing examination of police conduct and accountability.
The double murder charges relate to an incident earlier this year when Baird and Davies were shot dead in Sydney. Authorities have not revealed a clear motive, and Lamarre-Condon’s defence has yet to provide a detailed explanation.
As the trial continues, the court is hearing from other witnesses and reviewing evidence collected during the investigation. Prosecutors are expected to challenge Lamarre-Condon’s account of his relationship with Baird and the circumstances leading up to the shootings.
Lamarre-Condon’s position as a former officer has complicated proceedings, with defence and prosecution teams focusing on his credibility and state of mind at the time of the incident.
The case remains open, with no final verdict expected until all evidence has been presented. The trial’s outcome will determine Lamarre-Condon’s fate and potentially raise further questions about police oversight in Sydney.
