Just days after her mother was sentenced to 15 years in prison, the daughter of Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, known publicly as Nana Agradaa, delivered a heartfelt performance in church that left many emotional.
The young girl, known by her nickname Rihanna, was captured on video singing the viral gospel song Defe Defe during a Sunday service at her mother’s church. The clip, now widely circulated on social media, shows her standing at the altar with a microphone, leading the congregation in worship.
Her soft voice and calm demeanor stood in sharp contrast to the intense public scrutiny her family has faced since Agradaa’s sentencing for defrauding church members. Yet, in that moment, Rihanna became the focus — not for controversy, but for quietly anchoring a hurting congregation.
Many in the church could be seen moved to tears. Others closed their eyes in solemn worship. Online, the video has stirred conversation about the strength of children caught in the shadows of public scandal.
“This is beyond a performance. It’s a child holding her community together through worship,” wrote one user on TikTok, where the video is gaining traction.
Agradaa’s sudden absence has raised questions about the future of her church, Heaven Way Champion International Ministry, which she founded after converting from traditional spiritualism to Christianity in 2021. Her daughter’s gesture, however small, was seen by many as a sign of resilience — both personal and collective.
“She may be young, but what she did today speaks volumes,” a member of the church reportedly said after the service. “We are still grieving, but the Spirit of God is not gone from this place.”
Rihanna’s rendition of Defe Defe, a song by gospel artist Team Eternity Ghana, comes at a time when the lyrics — which speak of God’s strength in overcoming pain and humiliation — are resonating far beyond their musical context.
Whether the performance was spontaneous or encouraged by church elders isn’t clear. But the emotional reaction to it shows how music, even from the youngest voice, can offer healing in times of uncertainty.
