Mick Jagger makes surprise appearance in Napa Valley

Mick Jagger turned up at Festival Napa Valley on Friday to support his fiancée, Melanie Hamrick, who produced the event's dance gala.

The 82-year-old Rolling Stones frontman appeared alongside Hamrick, 39, a choreographer whose gala paired classical ballet with music from The Stones.

Jagger was seen laughing during the event, wearing a light green blazer and a patterned dress shirt. Hamrick wore an all-black dress with red slippers.

The appearance came a week after the Rolling Stones released "Foreign Tongues," the band's 25th studio album. It is their second collection of original material in three years.

Hamrick has worked with the band's music before. Her 2019 piece "Porte Rouge" also drew on Rolling Stones songs.

The couple reportedly met in Tokyo in February 2014, while the Rolling Stones were on tour. Hamrick was seen wearing an engagement ring around three years ago.

They share a 9-year-old son, Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger.

The Napa Valley appearance capped a busy stretch for Jagger, who has been spotted at several public events in recent days.

He was seen last week at the World Cup match between England and Norway. The die-hard soccer fan then attended England's losing match against Argentina days later.

Festival Napa Valley is held in one of California's best-known wine regions, an area that draws visitors from around the world for its vineyards and cultural events.

The dance gala Hamrick produced brought together two worlds she and Jagger know well. Classical ballet has been her professional field, while The Stones remain one of the most recognizable names in rock music.

Jagger and the Rolling Stones have kept up a steady output in recent years, with "Foreign Tongues" arriving as their latest release. The album marks the second time the band has put out new original material within a three-year span.

The couple has largely kept their private life out of public view, though appearances like the one in Napa Valley offer occasional glimpses. Their son was born in 2016, two years after they first met.

Jagger's presence at the festival added a high-profile name to an event centered on Hamrick's choreography. The pairing of ballet with the band's catalogue has become a recurring feature of her work.

For now, both figures remain in the public eye through their separate projects, from the band's new music to Hamrick's continued work in dance.
