THOUSANDS of WhatsApp users worldwide have complained that the app is down after being left unable to send or receive messages.
Many users took to social media to ask other people if they were experiencing the same problems.
According to Down Detector, the problems started at around 3:10pm, and are affecting WhatsApp users across the UK and US.
Incoming and outgoing message traffic have been impacted.
So far, more than 21,000 issues have been logged on Down Detector in the UK.
Of those who reported issues, 59 per cent said they were struggling to send messages, while 22 per cent were experiencing a server connection.
The remaining 19 per cent said the problem was with the app.
Meta, which owns WhatsApp is yet to comment on the issue.
Many users posted on X, formerly Twitter, after the app ground to a halt.
One person grumbled: “Lol was like “why aren’t my messages sending” on WhatsApp, thanks twitter for telling me that WhatsApp is down again.”
Another said: “Me running to X to see if WhatsApp is actually down or it’s my network.”
A third commented: “No need to switch flight mode on and off, whatsapp is indeed down.”
Now, some reports from users are emerging that Meta apps Facebook and Messenger are also down too.
